UrbnTek is a family-owned company founded by owners Charles Castelo Sr. and Charles Castelo Jr. in 2018. The father-son duo are lifelong residents of San Diego who started the company to help homeowners defend their properties from wildfires.

Our Story
Charles Castelo Sr. first invented the fire protective house cover in the late 1990s. Charles Sr. would discuss ways of making the product and how it could save people’s homes with his son. After the worst wildfire season on record in 2017/2018, Charles Jr. decided to jump in and help his father engineer the product. Priority one was to find materials that could withstand high temperatures, direct flames, and high winds. Taking ideas from various sources, a working concept was created, and UrbnTek was born in 2019.
